The Akken Chronicles are my attempt to write a series that appeals to more than just one age group. I remember picking up a copy of The Sword of Shannara by Terry Brooks when I was twelve. It wasn't written for a twelve-year-old. I loved it all the same. The Akken Chronicles isn't YA fiction. It's not adults-only fiction. It's just fantasy fiction - which is a little difficult to market, as it turns out.
